Rock-n-roll half marathon held in San Jose, California in October is a part of the Rock-n-Roll series of marathons.
In 2011, the race will be held on October 2, 2011. The course is flat and festive and perfect for runners, walkers and first time half-marathoners.
The starting point of the race is at the intersection of W. Santa Clara Street and Almaden Blvd. in San Jose. The finish location is near Cesar Chavez Plaza in downtown San Jose.
San Jose Rock-n-Roll Half Marathon race is an ideal race for people who are intimidated by the thought of running a half-marathon. Unlike the Nike half-marathon race, which has a hilly course; this race has a flat course. The race attracts runners and walkers, men as well as women. The race is held on a Sunday morning.
The race also offers age group awards starting from age group 12-18 upto age group 80+. You can see where you finished in your age group after the race results are announced. Age group awards are determined by the timing tag times for each runner.
For finishing the race, you will receive a finisher's medal, a T-shirt and an official finisher's certificate. In addition, you will receive a free admission to the finish line festival and the post-race concert. Free food, fluids and live entertainment and music is available along the course. The course is scenic, highlighting the most famous sites of the city.
Prior to the race, there is a 2-day health and fitness expo. Participants can pick up their race packet at this expo. The admission to this fitness expo is also open to the general public. The Expo is held at the San Jose convention center on Friday and Saturday prior to race day on Sunday.
The race offers an early bird discount for registering before July 31, 2011. The cost of registration is $85.00 if you register before then. For all registrations between August 1, 2011 to September 25, 2011; the registration fee is $100. The registration closes on September 25, 2011.
