Fuel Up with the Right Food
One of the things that you want to do before your running workout is to eat roughly 60 minutes before your run so you have plenty of energy in your glycogen stores. One thing I like to do for long runs is to use energy gels to help get me ready and to sustain my energy levels during my run. I like to take one gel pack 15 minutes before I run so it gets into my system. After that I tend to use 1 gel pack per 30 minutes in runs that are 10 miles or longer. It’s so easy on these type of runs to burn a ton of calories and if you don’t replenish them you will end up bonking and ruin your run.
